CURRENTLY READING: Asylum by Madeleine Roux

For sixteen-year-old Dan Crawford, the New Hampshire College Prep program is the chance of a lifetime. Except that when Dan arrives, he finds that the usual summer housing has been closed, forcing students to stay in the crumbling Brookline Dorm – formerly a psychiatric hospital. As Dan and his new friends Abby and Jordan start exploring Brookline’s twisty halls and hidden basement, they uncover disturbing secrets about what really went on here … secrets that link Dan and his friends to the asylum’s dark past. Because it turns out Brookline was no ordinary psych ward. And there are some secrets that refuse to stay buried.

Even though I was planning on saving this series for October – since it’s the month of Halloween – I couldn’t resist and started Asylum by Madeleine Roux earlier today. Of course I chose my Craftedvan Halloween pumpkin bookmark to keep me company. I named him Mr Skellington by the way. Anyhow, I’m about 80 pages in now and I am realling enjoying it so far. I love the scary photos which are featured in the book as part of the story. To be honest the photos are kind of freaking me out but that is exactly what I like about this book. I love spooky reads especially during this time of the year and I think this one is just perfect.

I like the characters so far and I definitely like where the story is going. I’m very excited and I can’t wait to continue reading which I will probably do tonight when it’s already dark outside and hopefully rainy since that is just the perfect weather to get into the right mood for such a spooky book.

Have you read it yet? If yes, how did you like it? Just let me know in the commets!
