REZENSION: How the Grinch stole Christmas! by Dr Seuss

author: Dr Seuss
title: How the Grinch stole Christmas!
publisher: Harper Collins Children’s Books
publication date: October 4th, 2004

For 53 years, the Grinch has lived in a cave on the side of a mountain, looming above the Whos in Whoville. The noisy holiday preparations and infernal singing of the happy little citizens below annoy him to no end. The Grinch decides this frivolous merriment must stop. His „wonderful, awful“ idea is to don a Santa outfit, strap heavy antlers on his poor, quivering dog Max, construct a makeshift sleigh, head down to Whoville, and strip the chafingly cheerful Whos of their Yuletide glee once and for all.

I’ve never really watched the movie The Grinch. I’m not even sure why. My boyfriend loves that movie; but my mother doesn’t so this might be the reason why. As a child we never watched it but as I was looking for some christmassy books to read this year I came across the actutal book How the Grinch stole Christmas! and fell in love with the book cover right away. Even though it’s a childrens book I had to get it and fell in love with it as soon as I’ve read the first page.

It’s such a wonderful chilren’s book. The Grinch is not really the kind of person you’d really want to spend time with, even Christmas with. But as the story continues he learns that there is much more to Christmas than just packages, bows, ribbons and not to mention feasts.

It’s so cute and nice to watch The Grinch disocver that Christmas is so much more than all the things mentioned above. I loved the book and had so much fun reading it that I’ve reread it right away as soon as I finished it the first time. Definitely a book I promised myself to read every Christmas from now on.
