I can’t even tell you how thrilled I was when I found out that Home Alone, one of my all time favorite christmas movies ever, was turned into an illustrated childrens book. I saw it over on instagram and couldn’t resist but buying it. I was excited like a little kid the night before christmas when I unpacked my amazon package.

It has become quite like a tradition to watch this movie every single year for christmas. I always watch it with my whole family, even my dad joins us every time. I can never decide which part of the movie I like best. Would it be the part when Kevin sets all the traps? Or when he goes shopping by himself loosing all his groceries on the street? Or maybe when he’s reunited with his family again? So so so many great moments in this movie I can’t even express how much I love it.

That is why I was a little disappointed when I found out that they have left out some of these moments in the childrens book. Especially as a chilrens book I think they would have been better off not leaving out so many funny and great moments. Apparently the book doesn’t do the movie the justice it deserves. It does not have the depth the movie has but the illustrations are so beautiful and very nice to look at. If I had children I would definitely read it to them and – of course – show them the movie since I still think that the movie is much better than the book. I didn’t have quite as much fun reading the book (as you can even call it ‚reading‘ since I’ve finished it in not even two minutes) as watching the movie.

Even know I’ve expected much more of it I was so excited to look at the book; I’m so happy to have it in my book collection and if you have children you should definitely read this one to them but also watch the movie with them. The whole book, the illustrations, the font, the text – it’s really adorable.
