In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street—and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends. With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister’s war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move—and that one of their own has betrayed them. Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, but her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will—the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do? As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.
Why did I wait so long to read the sequel? I thought Clockwork Angel was good, I mean really good. Cassandra Clare is QUEEN so of course all her books are going to be awesome but Clockwork Prince is even better. Oh my gosh Will. Oh Will. My heart is literally breaking for him. When I discovered why he was such an aggravated person all the time, my heart broke into a million pieces. Five years … oh my gosh I can’t I cried so much I had to stop reading for a second because I felt so bad for him. And even though it’s been awhile since I’ve finished it I am still so devastated of Will’s fate.
What I especially loved about this book was the relationship between Will and Jem. Will would do anything for Jem, his parabatai and so would Jem. Their relationship is so special it’s amazing.
What I also very much enjoyed throughout this book is the relationship between Will and Magnus. They are hilarious together and that one scene when Camille comes back and Will is at Magnus, well Camilles place? I was laughing so hard I could not stop. I just love these two together.
I also like Jem. Jem has such a pure heart and soul, he might be the kindest person ever. He’s so likeable, lovable even and even though Will definitely is my favorite I love Jem and I feel so sorry for him. What has happened to him is the worst. I am not sure what to think of Tessa to be honest. I believe her when she says that she loves Jem, I believe her when she says that she loves both of them but I still think that Will is actually her real true love. I have to admit that Tessa is not my favorite character. I kind of have a love/hate relationship with her. She is strong and she’s also still kind of new to the world she was dragged in and she had to go through a lot already but I hate that she’s kind of playing with two boy’s hearts. I feel so sorry for both of them, they love her so much and she’s just like „if I can’t get him, I’ll just take the other one“.
What I also found really interesting was that we got to know more about Tessas past, her parents, of course her brother and even Mortmain. I am so disappointed in Jessamine though, I did like her. I mean she is a very complicated character but what she did was just not acceptable. I still feel kind of sorry for her though. She’s just still a very naive and stupid little girl. But I really really like Henry and Charlotte. I liked them okay in the first book but now I love them and I am so thrilled for them both.
I am very scared to finish the series to be honest. I only heard good things about it though, but everyone also says that the end of the book is heartbreaking as hell and I am so scared but on the other hand I can’t wait to find out how this trilogy will end. I am very excited! Cassandra Clare just never disappoints.
