REZENSION: Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

title: Lady Midnight
author: Cassandra Clare
publisher: Simon & Schuster
publication date: March 8th, 2016

It’s been five years since the events of City of Heavenly Fire that brought the Shadowhunters to the brink of oblivion. Emma Carstairs is no longer a child in mourning, but a young woman bent on discovering what killed her parents and avenging her losses. Together with her parabatai Julian Blackthorn, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches across Los Angeles, from the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica. If only her heart didn’t lead her in treacherous directions… Making things even more complicated, Julian’s brother Mark—who was captured by the faeries five years ago—has been returned as a bargaining chip. The faeries are desperate to find out who is murdering their kind—and they need the Shadowhunters’ help to do it. But time works differently in faerie, so Mark has barely aged and doesn’t recognize his family. Can he ever truly return to them? Will the faeries really allow it?

OH MY GOODNESS. I don’t know what to think, what to say. This might be Cassies best book so far but I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to say that Lady Midnight is better than The Mortal Instruments but HOLY MOTHER OF GODS this book seriously is AMAZING and one of the best books I’ve ever read in my whole life and even though it’s only March I am sure this one will be my absolute reading highlight in 2016. I am so sad that it is over already I just want to read it again and again and again and I just can’t handle all these feels I am not even sure how to write a proper review I have to get my thoughts sorted out first because so much happens in this book; it’s a huge adventure and oh my goodness how much I loved it. If I could I would rate this book with a million stars.

Reading Lady Midnight was like coming back home after spending some time abroad or maybe after a very long vacation. It just really felt like home and as soon as I opened the first page I was in love and I just wanted to cry because being back in the Shadow world was the best thing ever and made me so emotional. I seriously had to take a couple of seconds before I started reading. Cassandra Clare and her book, the whole Shadowhunters world mean so much to me. The book helped through a tough time in my life and I am just so thankful for all her books.

It was soo great to dive into the Shadow world from a perspective we’ve never really seen before. So we don’t have a girl here who doesn’t really know who or what she is, here is a girl who’s been a Shadowhunter all her life, who grew up in this world, who grew up fighting demons and who has already lived through a war and survived. Cassandra Clare has grown so much as a writer her books get better and better every single time a new one gets published and even though this story basically takes place in a world we already know it’s so different to all of the other Shadowhunters books.

This book is intense, it’s insane and soo freaking real. All the new characters we are introduced to seem way more mature and grown up and every character is extremely individual and also very realistic. I fell in love with every single character from this book. With EVERYONE. Emma is such an awesome badass character and even though it may sound strange I love that she’s blonde haha not only because of her hair color I could relate to her a lot (yes I am happy that there’s finally a blonde female badass shadowhunter) but she’s just that kind of girl you can relate to or you want to relate to. She’s so much fun and she’s strong, she’s been through a lot already but she just never gives up and she is so passionate and honest, I love that she is so honest, and when she loves someone she loves them with all her heart and oh my gosh I could go on like all night because she’s one of the most amazing characters ever and I love her and Cassandra Clare, if you ever read this, you did such a great job on creating all these characters. I mean not just Emma, any character you’ve ever created (especially Mr Magnus Bane) Thank you! Thank you so much for all these great characters.

But of course I did not only love Emma but also Julian. Oh my gosh Julian, I fell in love with him I think the first time he appeared. Also Mark, Mark definitely is my favorite, besides Emma of course and Kieran and oh my gosh also Cristina, and Diego is very interesting and Malcolm and I don’t even know what to say because all characters are just PERFECT and so AMAZING if I could I would marry them all but I guess Magnus would get a little jealous then haha

I really don’t want to give away too much information because I really don’t want to spoil anyone even though keeping my mouth shut about what has happend is like the hardest thing ever … but this book is a non stop thriller with EVERYTHING we could have wished for. This is basically the best new installment of a series I’ve ever read and I am sooo in love with this book I just want to hold it and pet it and cry all the time because it was soo awesome. This book has taken the Shadow World further than I’ve ever imagined possible. I had soo many freaking theories and still I did not expect anything of what has happend and I just exploded with all the new information and I could not think because I was so overwhelmed.

Also all the TMI and TDI feels made me cry and squeal soo bad this book actually turned me back into my 16 year old self and I was sitting there squealing every time a character from the TMI series was mentioned.

This book is absolutely fantastic. Lady Midnight is phenomenal and everthing I wanted and waiting for the sequel will be the hardest thing ever but until then I will just reread all of Cassandras books like I always do because her books are just my favorites and with Lady Midnight she proofed all over again why she is my favorite author of all times. Cassandra Clare is QUEEN and I really really hope everyone will enjoy and adore this book as much as I did.

(Sorry if this review is a little confusing or messed up but I am just not able to control my feelings, words or even fingers right now so I hope you guys just get how much I loved this book.)
