Tessa Gray should be happy – aren’t all brides happy? Yet as she prepares for her wedding, a net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute. A new demon appears, one linked by blood and secrecy to Mortmain, the man wo plans to use his army of pitiless automatons, the Infernal Devices, to destroy the Shadowhunters. Mortmain needs only one last item to complete his plan. Hee needs Tessa. And Jem and Will, the boys who lay equal claim to Tessa’s heart, will do anything to save her.

I’m a mess. I’m a total mess and I don’t even know how to write a review but I’ll try. You know it’s a good book when they leave you with an smile on your face. But great books … great books will leave you heartbroken. All over again Cassandra Clare stole my heart, my soul only using all these wonderful words and leaving these characters hurts so much I can’t even express how much it hurts.

I cannot explain the feeling I had when closing the book, my heart shattered into pieces, I am an emotional wreck and still now writing this review and can’t stop myself from crying over this book, over Will, Jem and Tessa and oh my gosh how much I’ve cried during the book. I’m at a loss for words, I don’t know what to say I’m just heartbroken but even though my heart broke like a million times while reading this book it was so wunderful and perfect and glorious and I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to finish this series. Cassandra Clare definitely never disappoints even though she obviously likes ripping our hearts out.

I hate love triangles I really do but not this one. I completely fell in love with the only love triangle I will ever accept. Usually love triangles end catrastrophically, they only cause troubles and bring complications but not this one. Will, Jem and Tessa have such a deep connection and as Tessa said „You merged your souls when you were both children. I could not have loved Will so much if I had not loved you as well. And I could not love you as I do if I had not loved Will as I did.“ Will and Jem have such a deep friendship, it’s like they are one person. They are both so selfless and care for each other so much they would never hurt each other. They are parabatai like no other. The love they have for each other … it’s overwhelming and it will make you cry so bad, it will ruin your life and will leave you behind with a broken heart but also with a smile on your face because there is nothing like Will and Jem, there’s nothing more beautiful and perfect than their story.

As I’ve mentioned before in my Clockwork Prince review I wasn’t quite sure if I liked Tessa that much. I was upset with her and even now I am a little angry with her for basically playing with two boy’s hearts but I get her now. I understand her better now. She is kind and did indeed love them both. Love them both with all her heart. Even though Tessa will never be one of my favorite characters I like her a lot better now. She was just lucky enough to find love twice.

Also, to talk a little about all the other characters, I love Charlotte and Henry. Charlotte is brave, fierce and so caring. She’s got such a kind heart, she is smart and funny and I just love her. I’m also a little Henry-fangirl I have to admit. Henry is such an intelligend and unique soul. I love that he’s clumsy at times and I really grew on him. At the end, for that one second when they thought he’d died, I cried. I cried without knowing if it was true because even only the thought of him dying, leaving Charlotte behind with her unborn child broke my heart and made me cry so bad. I love Henry so much and I’m so sad about what has happened to him. He’s definitely one of the best characters from this series.

Gabriel and Gideon grew on me as well, especially Gideon and I’m so glad they finally proofed to everyone that they are better than their father; that they are better than everyone expected them to be.

And then there is Magnus, Mr Magnus Bane, my most favorite character of all times and again he was just amazing. I really don’t know how Cassandra manages to always create the most amazing characters ever but she does. She does and I can’t even explain how much I love Magnus. I loved the way he was around Will, how much he cared for him and it only made me love him even more.

All in all this book again was perfect as all of Cassandra Clares books are. Her writing is just so wonderful I just flew through the pages. Everytime I read one of her books it makes me feel like I am right there. It makes me feel like I’m one of her characters. Even though I probably said this a million times by now: Cassandra Clare is my favorite author of all times.

If you haven’t read this trilogy yet, do it! Don’t make the same mistake I made and wait too long to read this because I swear to god you will miss out on something because these books will break your heart, will ruin your life but will leave you behind speechless with the biggest smile on your face you could imagine and tears running down your face. It’s perfect, it’s more than perfect.
